Library Instruction: Home

Information literacy instruction helps orient students to college research techniques, resources, and support, helping them to develop as learners and future professionals.  We are glad to design a library instruction session to support your classroom teaching or research with students.

To request library instruction please email library@sbc.edu .  Let us know the course you are teaching, the assignment that our teaching session will support, and what specific skills or resources you would like us to demonstrate.

We request one week of notice before library instruction sessions in order to allow sufficient time to prepare.  We ask that instructors attend the session with their class in order to answer any course-specific questions that arise, and to ensure substantive discussion and student learning.

We are open to other instructional collaboration with subject area faculty, including developing specialized web-based information guides, working together to design effective research assignments, and meeting with students or faculty individually to provide guided research assistance.  Please feel free to talk with the librarians about any instructional needs we might help you with!
